I am so excited to talk with Kelly Bulkeley co-author of Children's Dreams: Understanding the Most Memorable Dreams and Nightmares of Childhood. When a child talks about a vivid nighttime dream, it can be difficult for adults to know how to respond. The book introduces readers to the basic psychology and neuroscience of dreaming, then explores dreams from early childhood through adolescence. Kelly Bulkeley, Ph.D., is a Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California. He earned a doctorate in Religion and Psychological Studies from the University of Chicago Divinity School, an M.T.S. from Harvard Divinity School, and a B.A. from Stanford University. A former President of the International Association for the Study of Dreams and a Senior Editor of the APA journal Dreaming, he has written and edited 17 books on dream research. His books include Children's Dreams (co-authored with his mother Patricia M. Bulkley) (2012), Dreaming in the World's Religions: A Comparative History (2008), and An Introduction to the Psychology of Dreaming (1997). He is the director of the Sleep and Dream Database (http://sleepanddreamdatabase.org), a digital archive and search engine designed to promote scientific dream research.
