Do Holidays or even Celebratory Months matter anymore?

Is it Secretarys Day or Secretarys Week? Same with Teachers, Bosses, and a slew of others. What is Labor Day anyway? Why does it seem that only Veterans and their families celebrate such an important Holiday for this Country? We seem to have turned into a Society who only cares about the Holidays where gifts are involved. And Black History Month has me baffled. NOBODY seems to care except my Childrens classes.
